about me

Hey! I’m Mat Aliotta. A video editor, data analyst, creator, and a nerd at heart. Growing up, finding that creative outlet wasn’t something I consciously sought out. Not because I wasn’t interested, but because I had already turned it into my comfort zone. My free time revolved around playing any instrument I could get my hands on, beat boxing, sketching buildings, or filling my notebook with random statistics from my favorite video games. Creating is what I love to do, and I can’t wait to make your vision a reality!

I’m a big believer in the idea that learning never ends; it is a continual, lifelong process. I am driven to continue exploring my editing passions while developing my craft. My main focus when creating is always on storytelling and user experience - making the videos not only visually captivating (“eye candy” as people have called them before), but draw the viewer into the story either though sequencing and creating emotion.

I have cultivated a broad skill set from my unique background of passions and studies that greatly influence my design choices. These skills include, but are not limited too...

  • Video Editing

  • Graphic Design

  • Motion Design

  • 3D Modeling

  • Data Analysis and Visualization

  • Programming (HTML, CSS, Python, SQL, etc)

I’m a big believer in the idea that learning never ends; it is a continual, lifelong process. I am constantly trying to learn something new in every project I pursuit, and want to help bring your stories to life!

design thesis

When designing and editing, I typically approach each project with a similar set of ground rules. Then, I mold or adjust fundamental parameters to fit each unique proposition.

  1. Consistent and effective communication with the client to make sure their needs are met and expectations are exceeded.

  2. Close collaboration with team members and project stakeholders.

  3. Design and iterate utilizing context and honing in on the factors that immediately impact user experience.

  4. Thorough research and data collection to inform decisions.

  5. Continuously learn and improve while developing creations.
